Not reading texts (SMS) messages, but is reading emails
First, make sure DriveSafe.ly is turned on. Open DriveSafe.ly and make sure the red “On” button is displayed. Then, hit the back button ‘till you’re back on your normal BlackBerry home screen. DriveSafe.ly is designed to run best when in the background. Don’t click “Exit DriveSafe.ly” because it will exit the app and turn it off, so messages will not be read. Instead, use the BlackBerry back button.
Are you sending yourself messages or are other people sending them to you? DriveSafe.ly will not automatically read messages coming from your own mobile device.
Certain mobile carriers, such as Nextel, turn SMS messages into MMS messages which DriveSafe.ly cannot read currently. Try opening a MMS message, click the BlackBerry Menu button, and select “Read with DriveSafe.ly.” If the message does not manually read, your messages are either MMS messages or you do not have a valid connection with our servers.
Sometimes your phones ringer can Silence DriveSafe.ly while it is reading a message out loud and sometimes even before the message begins to play. To make sure this is not the problem, try setting your phone to vibrate mode and have someone send you a text (SMS) message.
How do I change my sound profile to vibrate?
DriveSafe.ly needs a valid connection to our servers. To check if you have a valid connection, open
DriveSafe.ly -> Settings -> Advanced -> Check Internet.
A message will appear letting you know whether or not your phone is able to connect with our servers.
