DriveSafe.ly keeps your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel by reading your text (SMS) messages and emails aloud in real time and sending an auto-responder to let the sender know that you are busy and will respond as soon as possible. Texting while driving is extremely dangerous yet over one quarter of Americans admit to doing it.  A recent study by Car and Driver magazine concludes that text (SMS) messaging while driving is even more dangerous than driving while legally intoxicated and under the influence of marijuana.  The reason is simple, when someone texts while driving, they must look at the phone, taking their eyes off the road.  Even when someone is driving while intoxicated, they can still look at the road.  Of course, this does not condone driving while intoxicated, it merely demonstrates the danger of texting and emailing while driving.

Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death for American teenagers.  The AAA says up to 47% of teens text message while driving.  Text messaging while driving has been making headlines because most accidents are caused by distracted drivers and text messaging is a major distraction.  Texting takes the driver's eyes off the road.  A recent study by Car and Driver magazine suggests that driving while texting is more dangerous than drunk driving or driving under the influence of marijuana. If you think texting while driving is safe, it is not.  The statistics are compelling and prove the danger. Even if you think you are an expert at texting while driving, here's a newsflash: Everyone thinks they are an expert at everything and you're probably not that much better than this bus driver: Even if your state does not have a law against texting while driving, you can still get a ticket for reckless driving, careless driving or dangerous driving if a police officer spots you reading or sending a text message. Until  DriveSafe.ly was launched, the only sure way to avoid fines was to turn your cell phone off entirely.

The dangers of driving while texting (DWT) can be reduced with DriveSafe.ly by iSpeech.org.  DriveSafe.ly is a software application for BlackBerry (coming soon to other platforms) that allows drivers to hear all of their text (SMS) messages and emails without looking at or touching their mobile phones.  DriveSafe.ly also can auto-respond to your incoming messages, letting the person who was trying to reach you know that you are driving safely and will respond as soon as possible.
